Jesús came to CERN as part of a short traineeship program. This allows university students from member states to come and do an unpaid stay (max. 1 month) at CERN to gather knowledge that might be useful for their studies.

I agreed to supervise him and introduced Jesús to the field of Industrial Controls Engineering. After an introduction into WinCC OA, the SCADA platform we use, I showed him various other aspects of our daily business and how we monitor the large machinery at CERN. Despite being an engineer by training, Jesús understood the various software aspects of our work quickly.

Next to the hands-on work, I oranised for Jesús to follow various tours and get a larger understanding of CERN’s work and scientific mission.
